Erin Hope remains in the pediatric ICU at Baptist Hospital on the ventilator and doing very well! The doctors and we are very pleased with her progress. They don't want to go too fast at taking her off of the ventilator. She is breathing some on her own so don't worry about that. The ventilator is being used to help her breathe as well as to protect her airway.
Her kidneys are working very well too. She has pulled off a lot of fluid and most of the puffiness is gone. Another chest tube came out today which leaves only one drain left in her abdomen. Her incision sites look very good. Her liver function tests all look good and are moving toward the normal levels.
Please continue your prayers and ask God to keep her free of infection and for a speedy recovery. Please also pray for the other children and their families in the ICU for some of them are not doing as well as Erin Hope.
We were able to leave the hospital last night and go to a motel and get some sleep after two days of no sleep. We were very close to the hospital and Erin Hope had a good night. We thought that we would be of no help to her if we went another day without sleep. And, parents are not able to sleep in the ICU rooms.
We and the doctors are very pleased with how Erin Hope is doing. We are also very pleased at the care she is receiving. Thanks so much and God bless you.
