Erin Hope came home from the hospital this afternoon

Erin Hope came home from the hospital this afternoon. She is doing well with the exception that she is having some trouble keeping food and drink down without getting sick. She is able to tolerate drinking some water (for the most part). She is taking medication to help with the nausea. She is going to also have to take those dreaded, expensive shots ( about $300 each) every day for at least 10 days. She does not like to take them but they are necessary in keeping her white blood cell count up to be able to fight off infections.

The doctors were somewhat reluctant to send her home today but she told them she could "...throw-up at home." The doctor sort of chuckled and said "okay". We have to monitor her to ensure that she at least is able to drink some for the next day or so. As with the last 3 chemo treatments, there is a possibility that she may have low white cell counts with a high fever. If so, she will have to go back to the hospital.

Please pray first of all that the treatments will work and the tumors will respond. Second, pray for her not to get a high fever with low white cell counts and have to go back to the hospital. Thirdly, pray that she will be able to eat and drink and keep it down. Fourthly, and most importantly, pray that God will be glorified by everything that we do and say and that Erin Hope will be totally and completely healed of this cancer.

Next week, Erin Hope will have to go back to the hospital on an outpatient basis to get another dose of one of the chemo drugs and then come right back home. She could potentially receive up to 6 different treatments with these drugs. The plan is to give her 2 complete rounds of these drugs and do another CT scan to see if the tumors respond. This will probably be sometime in May; we'll let you know.
